What : The Indian Army contingent departed today to participate in the 5th edition of the India-Oman Joint Military Exercise AL NAJAH.
When : The exercise is scheduled to take place from 13th to 26th September 2024 at the Rabkoot Training Area in Salalah, Oman.
History: Exercise AL NAJAH is a biennial event that began in 2015, alternating between India and Oman, with the previous edition held at Mahajan in Rajasthan.

Participants and Objectives
The Indian contingent, comprising 60 personnel from a Battalion of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment and other arms and services, will represent India.
The Royal Army of Oman will also send a contingent of 60 personnel, represented by the Frontier Force.
Any thing related to UN : The primary aim of this joint exercise is to enhance the military capabilities of both countries in counter-terrorism operations, as outlined under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. The exercise will specifically focus on operations in desert environments, simulating real-world scenarios.
